Hi,
Why not have it as a separate plugin for odeviced instead?. I am not
sure if its a case of over-engineering but I guess the code would look a
bit more readable and keep things organized. For example, the some
accelerometer chips seem generate output only then position changes.
(wiimote?)

Also, There was a patch for the separate accelerometer plugin a few days
ago.
