Stable branch should focus on usability. Ugly patches/stop-gap 
solutions/band-aids should be acceptable as long as it fixes a 
particular user visible problem. From a practical point of view, +1 from me.

2.6.23 kernel will be phasing out for linux-rp in the stable branch. And 
we can always tell the autobuilder to build from scratch. But this is 
indeed a problem in .dev for any kernel-module upstream renaming in the 
future.
