I propose that the Online Voting Policy be amended as follows.
The section entitled "Voting Administrators" shall be replaced with the
text:
The board of the OpenEmbedded e.V. assigns one or more voting
administrators who are responsible for the technical operation
of the vote. This includes sending out the ballots, receiving
the votes, calculating and publishing the results. The voting
administrators need not be members of the e.V.
For votes which elect a group of persons ("3.2" below) no
candidate shall serve as an administrator for a vote in which
he/she is standing.
Other than publishing the official results, as described under
"Publication of voting results" below, the voting administrators
shall treat all information relating to the vote as confidential
and shall not store or process this data except as necessary to
perform their duties.
The section entitled "Electing groups of persons" shall be replaced with
the text:
For elections of groups of people there is an additional
candidacy period before the voting proposal is sent. The
appointed voting administrator(s) shall send a call for
candidates to the membership mailing list which starts the
candidacy period.
The candidacy period lasts two weeks. All members who declare
their candidacy in a statement sent to the membership list
become candidates for the election.
If, at the conclusion of the candidacy period, the number of
declared candidates does not exceed the number of places to be
filled, no voting takes place and all the declared candidates
are deemed to be accepted. Otherwise, the voting
administrator(s) send the final list of declared candidates in
the form of a voting proposal and, following the two-week
discussion period, the candidates are voted on as options
according to section 3.4.
The section entitled "Anonymity" shall be deleted.
The section entitled "Publication of voting results" shall be replaced
with the text:
The result of each vote shall be published, no later than 7 days
after the end of the voting period, on the OpenEmbedded e.V.
website and by email to the membership list. The published
results shall include a list of all members who participated in
the vote and the total number of votes cast for each option
(but, for the avoidance of doubt, the option for which each
individual member voted shall remain confidential).
