I was starting to get confused.  So for my benefit and everybody else's here
are again the results of "MACHINE=spitz bitbake -c clean qte-mt
libopie2;MACHINE=spitz bitbake opie-image" with current mtn head

unpatched .dev:
touchscreen twisted 90° ccw
cursor keys twisted 90° ccw

attachment 4704:
touchscreen twisted 90° ccw
cursor keys              OK       <---

attachment 8963:
touchscreen twisted 90° ccw
cursor keys              OK       <---

attachment 4704 and attachment 8963:
touchscreen twisted 90° ccw
cursor keys twisted 90°  cw       <--- pushed 90° too far

So, is attachment 8963 the generally applicable solution that Paul was looking
for?  Paul, can you please test?
