Maybe it was wrong console param set in cmd line ? it should be
"console=ttyS0,115200n8 console=tty0" ttyS0 for serial logging and tty0 for on
LCD messages. 

To check that boot in to booldr mode (joypad down + reset ), "params eval" and
check params for console...
