I am going by memory here (my latest self-compiled images don't boot), but IIRC
the patch did not fix the issue for me on spitz and looking at the code I fail
to see how it should.  My problem is that right after start-up, the cursor keys
are rotated by 90° which makes them impossible to use.   Paul, can we chat
about this?

PS: The patch would also need to be accompanied by a PR bump.
