still no keyboard.  new messages:

WARNING: Assignment of OUT_TTY failed (not a tty)!
Warning: can't open /etc/mtab: No such file or directory
Loading initial kernel modules...
     - Searching [locomo-kbd.ko]
     - Couldn't find the module!

Altboot is a boot-manager...
