Well, glib-1.2 is not just "old", it's first of all another branch of glib. And
the fact that glib-2 is newer doesn't mean it's better, of course. Few non-gtk
related packages used to depend on glib, and mostly on 1.x branch (as depending
on 2.x means depending on bloat). Midnight Commander is one of the examples.
