Sorry, messed up third paragraph:

There is a pattern to the corruption. Some vertical lines(columns) are (almost)
always fully corrupted. Specifically, columns where x_pos mod 8 is 6 or 7 (the
last two columns of every 8-column block). There is random corruption (some
bits corrupted, usually not all) on the others.
