in theory yes, its only a matter of adding one device+target combination to the
builds. The drawback is that OpenEmbedded is not yet able to create bootable
VMWare (or VirtualBox) images. You get a compressed archive of the target file
system you have to convert into a bootable image manually.
I might be easy to use bootimg.bbclass which creates a Syslinux based bootable
image and convert this to a VM image. I did not try that so far, but if it is
that easy we might manage to make this work soon.
