[Gpephone-devel] bitbake issues - probably user error, but....

Hi all,
I finally got angstrom/gpe-image to build yesterday and figured I would try
my hand at building gpephone.
I took (and modified) florian's local.conf, set up my build directories as
directed by the wiki, modified and used the env-oe script and _manually_
applied the angstrom patch (it would not apply automatically, so I read it
and changed the necessary parts)
I seem stuck at step 1:
---
joshua at slate:~/oe$ . env-oe tornado
Environment set up for OpenEmbedded development.
joshua at slate:~/oe/build_tornado$ bitbake gpephone-image

Is there a provider of email? I am misreading the error?
I think my environment is more or less sane.
Any thoughts for further troubleshooting?
Sorry for the newbie questions.
Thanks in advance,
josh
