that's good news - were you able to build the application itself already?
In this case you could install these instead of building a complete image.

Scratchbox would be quite useful for development indeed, especially because I
expect trouble with a common cross toolchain for the VMWare image because the
architecture is the same than on the host PC.
I'm going to investigate if it is complicated to make use of Scratchbox for our
purposes.
