the idea is that the VMWare machine would connect the first serial port in the
image directly to a device /dev/GSM-Modem on the host PC.
/dev/GSM-Modem would be a link to the serial interface of the real GSM modem
like a PCMCIA GSM card or similar.
I suspect that we still need to change the startup parameters of the GSM
multiplexer...
