I looked into this, and if I remember correctly, it seems to be a bug in
libsoup which causes SSL to be broken when connecting to Apache-based servers.

One user reported that they had managed to work round the problem by installing
an older version of libsoup2.4 which they found in one of the repositories.  In
particular, they said they installed
http://repository.maemo.org/extras-testing/pool/fremantle/free/libs/libsoup2.26-1/
and then "remade the symlink for /usr/lib/libsoup-2.4.so.1 to point to the 2.26
version of libsoup and now it works without a hitch".

I have never tested that, so I can't recommend it, just passing the message on.
