I've seen something very similar to this happen with 2.8+maemo+svn20090629-1.
I'll see if I can find more details as to why it happens, or a way to
reproduce, before reopening.

This appears to happen with all Subscribed calendars
and seems to violate the user assumption that a "subscribed"
calendar is a one-way feed that will mirror changes made
in the feed that is being subscribed to. The proposal
in #2 seems to make sense (although it would be good to
do the changes all within a transaction so that you don't
end up with losing lots of events if something breaks
during the subscription download).

A related problem appears to be that DNS resolution failures aren't recovered
from. (If network is not connected at the time a subscription is attempted, an
error will be presented for being unable to resolve the hostname even after
networking has returned.)

I belive that I've also seen this at least twice with 2.8+maemo+svn20090629-1
on a Nokia N810.

(It looks like my issue with DNS in comment #1 is resolved in libsoup-2.4.1,
which isn't terribly helpful at the moment.)
