Hello,
I just recently purchased a Nokia N800 Internet tablet and installed some of
the GPE applications on top of my OS2008 (Maemo 4.0) install. I feel
compelled to say that this software is great! It helps turn an otherwise
non-PDA device into a suitable replacement for my Palm Tungsten T3. I'd
like to thank you guys for all of the work that you do to make great
software like this happen.
A little about myself... I have an MS is computer science from Clarkson
University and I'm a big time Linux fan!! I'm proficient in C, in fact,
it's my favorite language. I've played around with GTK before but I am
definitely still a beginner in this area.
Now that my story and opening remarks are out of the way I'll get to the
main point my my e-mail. I am interested in helped out with GPE. I don't
want to make any serious commitments to start with, I'd like to just take a
shot at adding a few features to some of the GPE applications to replace
functionality that some of my Palm programs have so I can familiarize myself
with the code. After that, I'll see how I feel about other contributions.
First and foremost, I'd like the ability to configure certain alarm
preferences in GPE-Calendar. I would like to add the following features:
1. Allow user to choose alarm sound (MP3? Ogg? Wav?)
2. Allow user to specify how many times alarm sound is played when an alarm
is triggered
3. Allow user to specify how long to wait between replaying an
unacknowledged alarm
So would you be interested in help? If so, I'd appreciate some guidance on
getting access to your subversion repository found at
http://projects.linuxtogo.org/scm/?group_id=21. The anonymous access to svn
does not seem to work. I keep getting asked for a username/password and
none of the obvious choices (username: "anonymous", "" and password
"anonymous", "") seem to work. Also, the link to the nightly SVN snapshot
also seems to be broken.
