[Gpe-list] New maemo packages

I put the GPE for Maemo packages into Maemo Extras (for chinook) a couple of
weeks ago but I had missed a number of packaging problems (although the
software worked).

I have created new packages to fix these but, before I put them in Extras, I
would welcome any volunteers to test them to make sure I haven't screwed up
again! The new packages are in the extras-devel repository. They contain
exactly the same software as the previous packages (i.e. they are the SVN
code from 20080114) but I would like to make sure they install correctly.

If you are currently running the "stable" versions (i.e. 20080114) you should
be able to upgrade to the new packages by adding the extras-devel repository
(see below for instructions) and disabling (at least temporarily) all my
repositories (user, daily and experimental) and the "maemo-hackers"
repository. If you then refresh the application list you should be able to
see upgrades for the GPE packages (to version 2.8+maemo+svn20080114-2) and
the upgrades should install and work correctly.

If you are already running a newer version than 20080114 (presumably installed
from my daily repository) you won't be able to upgrade. If you still feel
like helping me to test you would have to uninstall all the GPE packages,
make the same repository changes and check that you can see the new packages
and they install and work correctly. Doing this should not affect your
current GPE databases.

The main thing I have not been able to test is accessing remote calendars. I
have had to rebuild the library that provides the HTTP access so confirmation
that that still works would be useful.

In any case, if you try these packages please let me know the result.

Graham

P.S. to set up the extras-devel repository in the application manager... Use
Tools/Application Catalogue/New.

Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/
Distribution: leave blank
Components: free non-free

If you want to set it up in sources.list by hand the line would read:
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/ chinook free non-free
