ah too bad... could you run it from a terminal and check if there is any
suspicious output?

Immediately upon starting, I get

GLIB WARNING ** Gtk - gtk__widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget
with width -24 and height 0

Then when I go to the categories window/dialog/whatever and select "new" I get
a segmentation fault reported in the terminal. Hope that helps...
