That's a litte bit unfortunate behaviour since the keyboard is supposed to open
automatically. For some strange reason the key in the center is used for
opening the keyboard and "enter" which is the default to accept a dialog. So
basically the behaviour is correct but a little bit confusing.

gpe-today is in the process of becoming replaced by gpe-summary. this only
neeeds some support for non-hildon environments

Caused by a bug in the keyboard handler - should be fixed in SVN.

Why is this a dupe? One bug that an operation takes a long time; the other says
that there is no feedback.
It's true that if the operation was changed so that it only takes a second or
two, then no feedback would be required... but in that case one bug would be
fixed and the other would no longer relevant (but it wouldn't be fixed).
Conceptually, these are two very different bugs.

Since we do not have much of influence on the time it takes to import vcard
files (it depends on the size of the file) we have to provide feedback about
the progress anyway. So you can reduce these two bugs to one problem: While the
application imports date it has to communicate to the user that is actually
doing something.
