Congratulations!  That is an excellent device, though you may soon
find yourself wishing for the keyboard included with the n810.

Yeah, GPE also allowed me to replace my ancient Palm Vx with the n810.
I won't claim that GPE Calendar or Contacts are as good as the Palm
equivalents, but they have the potential to be!

Excellent choice!  I think the best solution would be to use the
native Maemo alarm interface:
