The GPE packages for Maemo have been ported to the new Maemo 4.0 (chinook)
release and are available for testing. Many thanks are due to Christoph
Würstle who did much of the porting (and who wrote gpesummary, which is now
included).
All the GPE applications that work on earlier Maemo releases have been ported:
gpe-calendar, gpe-contacts, gpe-todo, gpe-timesheet, gpe-filemanager,
gpesyncd, starling. Gpesummary is also available (it is also available for
bora and will soon be available for gregale I hope). However, neither Chris
nor I have a device running Chinook so we don't know whether these actually
work at all! So, testers are required!!
The packages are currently available from my daily build repository: see
http://www.cobb.uk.net/770/daily.html. However it would be useful if people
could test the .install files I have created. Note that these *should*
automatically configure all the required repositories to install onto a
freshly-installed system. Here are the links:
gpe-calendar: http://www.cobb.uk.net/770/gpe-calendar.install
gpe-contacts: http://www.cobb.uk.net/770/gpe-contacts.install
gpe-todo: http://www.cobb.uk.net/770/gpe-todo.install
gpe-timesheet: http://www.cobb.uk.net/770/gpe-timesheet.install
gpe-filemanager: http://www.cobb.uk.net/770/gpe-filemanager.install
gpesyncd: http://www.cobb.uk.net/770/gpesyncd.install
starling: http://www.cobb.uk.net/770/starling.install
gpesummary: http://www.cobb.uk.net/770/gpesummary.install
If you find problems either with installation or with the applications once
installed please create a bug report at: http://bugs.linuxtogo.org/
If you successfully install the app and manage to at least run it, please send
me an email to let me know someone has succeeded!
Graham
P.S. For those who care about such things: the current versions have been
built with the Chinook Beta SDK. They will be replaced with versions built
from the newly released Chinook SDK in the next few days.
