[Gpe-list] Debian directories

I noticed that Philippe has removed the debian directory from gpe-timesheet at
the request of the downstream debian maintainer. I wonder whether we should
do that for all the components that have a debian directory?
While creating Maemo packages I noticed that some components have debian
directories and others do not and, even when they are present, they are not
necessarily useful. Most components make use of the "patch" feature in MUD
to modify the debian directory in some way before building the Maemo
packages.
I had thought of contributing my patches and making the changes in the GPE SVN
but I was not sure if the debian directories were used for anything else and
it didn't seem right to have Maemo-specific debian directories.
After seeing the request from the gpe-timesheet debian packager I am inclined
to think that we should just remove the debian directories from all the GPE
components (starling, gpe-mini-browser, gpe-ownerinfo1, libgpeplugin,
gpe-icons, gpe-todo, gpe-calendar, keylaunch, gpe-today, gpe-contacts,
libgpevtype, gpe-edit, libtododb, libxsettings-client, bluez-pin,
libgpewidget, libgpepimc). What do others think?
One disadvantage of removing them might be losing the changelog and copyright
files. It would probably be worth checking that everything has a ChangeLog
and a COPYING file in the main directory.
