Yes, you will lose ALL YOUR DATA (in GPE, and other programs, and you'll
also lose all your applications). It would be a good idea to copy your
data out of your home directory using ssh/scp, rsync, or some other
method. Your GPE data appears to be in the hidden directory /home/user/.gpe
