[Gpe-list] Gpe-calendar download/sync support

Readers of this list may be interested in the following discussion which has
been occurring on the Maemo (Nokia Internet Tablet) list and in private email
(posted with permission). This GPE Calendar user wants easy, user-ready,
two-way synchronisation with Google Calendar. Seems like a reasonable
request!

I think the medium term solution, with full two-way synchronisation, may be to
get Opensync to work on the device (which I am currently working on). Why
re-invent a synchronisation framework when one already exists? It will,
however, need a user friendly GUI.

In the meantime, a useful interim solution would be to have one-way sync from
Google Calendar into GPE Calendar. However, this apparently doesn't work
with a service called "Schedule World" (which I think is SyncML based).
Anyone have any experience using Schedule World? Should it work with the GPE
Calendar "subscribe" feature?

This is definitely beyond my current skills... I essentially need a
set it and forget it URI to subscribe to if possible... It looks
like GPE Cal supports a scheduled sync which is cool - though I just
tried getting it to work with Schedule World and nothing is happening.
I'll keep on standing by -- I'm sure more than just us are interested
in a solid PIM solution for this platform.

Thanks,
JG
