I'll see if I can get additional information by installing the debug version
(not an expert at this kind of thing). Unfortunately, it may be a while before
I get round to it, as I'm about to go on holidays. Anyway, here is a little
more info. If I run it from the console, I get the following error message:

(gpe-sketchbook:4970) Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_drawable_get_display: assertion
`GDK_IS_DRAWABLE (drawable)' failed
Segmentation fault.
