This is what I had in mind with base... However it should be decided
what actually is base (or core).

Indeed, seems we are thinking in the same direction.

This might be a good idea to avoid clutteting extra.

I proposed also defunct for stuff that might be interesting to fix. This
way we can point new developers to applications that might need some
care to become useful again.
