If I ask my N770 to display an alphabetical segment of my contact list, it
takes about 6 seconds to do so (which is a long time compared to a Palm PIM,
but is acceptable)... but if I ask it to display all the contacts in a single
category (even if the category contains only a handful of contacts), I don't
know how long it takes because after 15 minutes I give up and reboot the N770.
During this 15 minutes, the N770 is essentially unusable (I think because the
gpe-contacts process is consuming all the cycles).

This renders the "Find in Categories" feature uselss for contact lists that
contain the number of contacts that can reasonably be expected to be supported
in a PIM.

Displaying all the contacts in a category should not take longer than
displaying an alphabetical subset of a contact list.
