Long time mounting is ok for jffs2.
Kexecboot uses mount() syscall and there is no timeout.
Your issue seems very strange. Debug now is very developer-oriented
(recompile with debug enabled and use serial console).. We have already
some ideas how to make bug hunting easier later.
