What do you mean by setting "windows box" to "static ip on >that<
interface"? There is no new network interface in control panel for
network interfaces. I can only see a new network card in Management
Console called Linux USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget. It also has yellow
explanation mark :-)
In the advanced properties I can set "Network address" but I think it
is for MAC address, and by reading Documentation_usb_linux.inf this
value can hold up to 12 characters. Anyway setting it to 192.168.1.23
won't hurt.

By correct entry you mean one described by angstrom manual but alerted
to fit my LAN? On other machines I only need to set gateway to
192.168.1.1 and ip address to anywhere in between 192.168.0.0 ->
192.168.255.255 and it works.

What are pre-up lines? :) I don't know how to add them. As I said I'm a newbe :(
