Thanks for all the replies. I also (belatedly) found and read the relevant
section of the manual (variant of RTFM):

after reviewing that and the feedback, I think I will try to find another
prism-based card.  I need WPA to connect both at home (I could change that,
but I'd rather not) and at work (can't change that) - and it looks like
that means hostap currently.

I assume the SDIO status hasn't changed from the statement in the manual.

Both the Sandisk SDWCFB-000 and the Ambicom WL1100CCFC2 (the Ambicom
WL1100C-CF is different) look _identical_ to the Netgear MA701 card, which
worries me, since I had the netgear die.

Current thinking is the Linksys WCF12 (if I can find one) or the Ambicom
WL1100C-CF.

Thanks again - sorry to spam the list with something I should have found on
the wiki.  OTOH, I did learn something about the difference between B and G
that I was unaware of previously :)
