[Angstrom-distro-users] Input problems

Hello,
I am wondering if anybody is experiencing the same problems I have with
my SL-C860 after switching to Angstrom. I tried to investigate them,
but with little or no luck so far...
First, the key combination with Alt do not work. I checked out
/etc/matchbox/kbdconfig and it looks ok; for example, it contains
<Alt>n=next
<Alt>p=prev
but the given combinations do not work - neither does any of the other,
and neither does my beloved Alt-Tab to switch sessions. Anyway,
Ctrl-Alt_backspace works - that is, it restarts gpe-dm. But that may be
a different beast, mayn't it?...
Second, the input of latin1 characters blocks somewhere, and I don't
understand where - probably in a couple of places. One place is
definitely busybox's sh, since, if I switch to dash, latin1 input works
through ssh, but not in rxvt (that is, rxvt-unicode, which is the
default terminal emulator provided). On the other hand, latin1 input
also works in gpe-edit (I'd have tried a terminal emulator, but the ones
readily available did not seem apt to the scope). Of course I tried to
install what seemed to be the relevant locales (glibc-localedata-it-*
and glibc-binary-localedata-it-*, I understood the former is not needed
after installation), and to set LC_CTYPE=it_IT in /etc/profile, but
nothing changed. I did many other attempts, which I won't report,
hoping a shorter message will get more attention...
Did anybody else get as frustrated as I am on this issue? Or maybe I'm
the only one who needs vim+latin1 in Angstrom (it may very well be the
case...)
