OK, first report from the field....

My Zaurus SL-C3100 will boot with either 2.6.23 or 2.6.24 kernel, just 
fine into console mode.

However, both 2008.1-test and 2997.1-rc7 fail with bug 3846.

I will patch /etc/X11/Xserver with the suggested changes and see what 
happens.
