[Angstrom-devel] i686 builds

Hi All,
I was just wondering, after trying to install Xubuntu on a particularly
stubborn Vaio last night, is there any plan to maybe create an i686 build of
Angstrom? My simple reason for asking is that this Vaio I was installing on
had big overheating issues, and a full 1gb install often caused an overheat
issue before it managed to get to the Grub installer, leaving my with a
buggered machine. I eventually solved it by ripping the lid of the machine
and holding a damp cloth against the CPU cooler to reduce heat while the
install took place. Once it was on, I could run it slow enuf to stop the
overheating.
This left me thinking though, if Angstrom was available for i586/686
hardware, install time could be massively reduced and possibly give a new
lease of life to older hardware. If Asus can put GPE on their much sought
after Eepc, why is there not a version of Angstrom for Intel/AMD metal that
lets users 'revive' old machines?
I'm not sure of the technicals involved, it's just a question I wanted to
throw open and see what the thoughts were.
Thanks,
Ian
