[Angstrom-devel] USB Networking

This is a question that's affected my Z for a while, certainly since I
started playing with Angstrom again in Nov/Dev. I'm not going to file it as
a bug yet, as it might already be noted and I've not found it, or it might
be me being useless!
I run Ubuntu 7.10 on my Desktop, and used to be able to use FireStarter to
create a bridge for my Z onto my broadband. The Z was 192.168.0.202 and the
USB0 on the desktop was 192.168.0.201. When plugged in I could always run
ipkg update and so on without any trouble.
However since using the 12/2007 builds, I've found an issue which I can't
seem to solve. I can plug the Z in (it's into a USB hub btw) and Ubuntu
detects it and sets up USB0, without an ip addy, but I can set that up with
ifconfig, so thats no biggie. However once I've done that there is still no
packet forwarding, and worse, my mouse slows down to about 1/4 of the speed
it used to move at. Mouse clicks are not always detected, so I have to try
over and over to get a click to register. I am using a M$ MultiMedia
Wireless KB and Mouse with the receiver plugged into the same hub the Z is
connected to. I've tried connecting the Z to a motherboard USB socket and
the result is the same, the mouse still drops to a very slow speed.
Has anyone seen this behavior before? I'm seeing nothing in syslog that
gives me any clues as to whats causing this, could it be a bug in Ubuntu's
cdc ether? Google is not giving me much on this either!

Any suggestions gratefully received,

Ian
