Koen, I can agree with you (see, I personally use openntpd instead of
ntpd) but gpsd is *de-facto standard* and is *well* supported:

So, I don't see the urgent need for a change but was rather waiting
for an upgrade.
(until rev. 2.35 the -b option was missing and it wasn't exactly big
fun with bluetooth devices...)
