Busy at work and setting up my quad-core box recently. built from stable 
branch, however still no luck. I will try the debug flag as you suggested.

in the meantime, Could you give a link to the working kernel you built 
from the stable branch.

btw, 64 bit os built angstrom smoothly from both dev and stable, great job.
