It is deliberate. The value is intended to be switched by zaurusd
depending on sharpsl events coming from headphones insert/removal (the
ground ring of the connector contains two pins, and if they are
shortened, sharpsl driver generates signal catched by zaurusd, zaurusd
calls scripts to switch the mixer state).
It does not work as it is intended:
scripts under /etc/zaurus/hinge-$orientation.d/ run twice
http://bugs.openembedded.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2571
(zaurusd scripts does ugly things, which break audio in headphones)
Patch is attached for a long time without any response.
spitz/akita sound mixer misconfiguration
http://bugs.openembedded.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2617
(patches in OE repository break the correct default state of zaurusd
from svn)
To fix this problem, OE patch needs to be reverted. (and apply only
chunks related to channel renames in kernel)
